UPARC Meeting Minutes November 2, 2019
Alan Streitman W4UB called the abbreviated meeting to order at 2:00 pm at the Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs.
The Club Board members and meeting attendees were introduced.
Reports
Secretary’s Report – Jeff deGrasse K4JJD presented the minutes report. The October Meeting Minutes had been posted on the Forum. Alan Streitman W4UB moved to approve the meeting minutes, Dean Siegrist N0OAC seconded the motion, and the motion was passed.
Treasurer’s Report – Alan Streitman W4UB presented the report for Glenn Panazzolo N4ESU. There are 64 current members. Expenses for the month included shelter fees and liability insurance premiums. The total balance is currently $3,470.
Committees
Technical – Alan Streitman W4UB reported that the repeater time issue has been fixed.
HamWan – Alan Streitman W4UB stated the HamWan signal level in the equipment closet was low and he is considering an inline signal repeater to correct the issue.
Club Net Status – Alan Streitman W4UB reported for Glenn Panazzolo N4ESU. Five nets were held in Octomber. There were 51 check-ins. A call for more net controllers was issued.
ARRL Winter Field Day – Will take place Januaray 25-26. Jason Esterline N4BOZ made a call for Field Day committee member volunteers. He stated we have a good template from past field day planning activities and is expecting biweekly conference calls.
Social and Events – The Breakfast Social will be at Bob Evan’s on November 23 at 9:00 am. The Tampa Bay HamFest is scheduled for December 13 – 14. Attendees are encouraged to get there early for the best deals.
Club Incorporation – Ken Scaggs WQ3V has developed bylaw changes to comply with the 501C3 requirements. These bylaws are to be be discussed by the Board and then presented to and voted on by the general membership.
Board Elections – Ken Scaggs WQ3V announced the unopposed candidates: Alan Streitman W4UB for president, Jason Esterline N4BOZ for vice president, Jeff deGrasse K4JJD for treasurer, Steve Foy N4FOY for secretary, and Glenn Panazzolo N4ESU for member at large.
Old Business – Alan Streitman W4UB reported that six digital voice files have been created which will be played on the Repeater for operator training. This will allow users to practice how fast they can copy information. The day and time of the playback will be announced.
Alan Streitman W4UB stated that Glenn Panazzolo N4ESU will do the December presentation concerning portable ham radio operations
Technical Presentation – None given this month.
