Meeting Minutes

January 8, 2022

  1. Call to order

Jack Kinney (N4KIN) welcomes meeting attendees to St. Ignatius of Antioch Parish church at 10:04 AM.

  1. Introductions

Fred (W2SUB) and Ryan (KO4KGP) are new net controllers for the weekly club net on Tuesdays.

Treasurer’s report: presented by Jason (N4BOZ)

President’s report (N4KIN):

Jack announces that club assets now exceed 10 thousand dollars. We’re able to support field events with on-hand equipment.

Club website downtime is on-going issue

Tarcfest is on-going in Tampa today

Breakfast social with CARS on the 22nd at Another Broken Egg

ARRL West Central Section Lunch on the 22nd at 11a. Meeting to follow.

Winter Field Day will occur on the 28th and 29th of January at the Clearwater Fire Training Center. A committee is actively planning the event. New ICOM 7600 will be in-use during this event. Interest in CW by club members is queried but no response. Antennas are discussed briefly. Email will be sent out shortly and links are available on the club website for this event. TR4W logging software will be used. No FT8. Those digital modes aren’t designed to exchange the required information. The committee is always looking for volunteers. UPARC is providing the food. Headphones will not be provided so BYOH.

Kudos to Ray (K9EYT) for facilitating the Special Events Station on Honeymoon Island. QSL cards received are available for viewing during this meeting. Idea of making this an annual event is proposed. Good interest in the event from radio community was noted.

Alan (W4UB) wins the raffle of 26 dollars and donates it to the club

  1. Technical Presentation

Fred Botero (W2SUB) presents refresher training for HAM operators.

Jack (N4KN) introduces the Bell Labs film “Similarities of Wave Behavior” (28 mins).
