UPARC Monthly Meeting Minutes 7 Jan 2023
Meeting called to order at 10:03 AM Pledge of Allegiance Board Members in attendance:
Fred Botero, W2SUB (President), Ron Appel, W4RFA (Vice President), Alan Streitman, W4UB (Secretary), Jason Esterline, N4BOZ (Treasurer), Ryan Rager, KO4KGP (Member at large)
Introductions of Board of Directors and attendees
Fred presented his vision of the Club for 2023. He also announced that the club’s application for an ARRL grant was not approved. We will submit again at the next opportunity.
Secretary – Dee Hooker, previously posted the Dec 2022 meeting minutes which were approved by the meeting body.
Treasurer – Jason reviewed financials. Income $1,018.87, Expenses $267.49, and balance $9731.93.
Club Nets – Jack presented top 5 net participants of 2022. Dee Hooker was #1 with 47 logins. There were 54 logins per month average.
UPARC QRZ and ARRL websites have been updated with current club information.
Fred indicated that the Club will be staffing the following committees:
- FS #65 Repeater – (Alan, Jason, Ryan, and Rob Bird)
- Net control and Webmaster – (Jack)
- Recruiting – (Ryan, Jason)
- GOTA –
- Grant – (Fred)
- Training – (Steve Foy)
- VE Testing – (Mike)
- Social Events –
Upcoming events:
Hamcation to be held on Feb 10 -12. We will attempt to organize cars pools and meet on site in the RV area. Info to follow on Slack and club website.
Donated HTs were given to Josh Luria for use by the Boy scouts.
ELCERT to host a Technician exam training course at fire station #57 in Palm Harbor on Feb 18 and 25. The course will conducted over two sessions and will be taught by ARRL certified instructor Steve Foy. VEs will be needed to support a test session at the conclusion of the course. Details to be posted on the club website.
A POTA event will be held at Honeymoon Island on April 15.
Fred presented achievement awards to Jack Kinny, Steve Foy and Charlotte Luria.
A Winter Field Day discussion was held. The dry run will be conducted on 1-21-23. Three Elecraft K3 HF transceivers will be utilized. Overnight volunteers include Gerry WR6N, Dean N0OAC, Sara and the Lauria’s.
A raffle of donated items was held generating $53.
No joint CARS / UPARC breakfast in January due to WFD.
Next meeting will be held 2-4-23.
