  1. Call to order

Alan (W4UB) welcomes meeting attendees back to fire station #65 at 10 AM. Jack was unable to attend.

Treasurer’s report: presented by Jason (N4BOZ) for April (approved):

Weekly club net participation report presented by Alan(W4KIN).

Mike (K4HN) presents results of license testing this morning. Of the 3 participants we have one Technician and one General license earned. Alan (W4UB) asks about the new FCC payment process. Mike explains that every candidate should receive instructions by email. Within 10 days a file number and a payment of 35$ is required for a license to be issued.

Alan (W4UB) presents a list of activities that includes the weekly net on Tuesday night, The “UPARC in the park” (21st) sign-up sheet is available from our web page. 3 radios will be provided by the club and please bring your equipment as well. A generator will be provided by Dee (W4DCH). Dayton Hamvention is on the 21st and is highly recommended event. Breakfast with CARS is occurring on the 28th of May. ARRL Summer Field Day is occurring on June 24th and 25th. The planning committee will begin work this month. Members are encouraged to participate. A sign-up sheet will be distributed.

Jason (N4BOZ) presents “Show-us-your-shack” slides for discussion.

Alan(W4UB) asks Jason, Gerry and Ryan to tell us about the hurricane drill they participated in this past week. Pinellas County ACS/ARES group held a drill on the 3rd. Shelter teams were deployed, and a net was established with the EOC. Various scenarios were simulated during the exercise. Numerous pictures were presented. “SAT-runner” and “POD-runner” unit briefly explained as portable cell phone site and communications device. Gerry explains that training is required to participate. Knowledge of process is required to participate in running communications. Alan points out that volunteers often have personal commitments that prevent participation during an actual event. Volunteers are always needed.

Alan (W4UB) announces that this will be our last ZOOM meeting. The capability is available in the future if needed.

Tom (NY4I) reminds us that slack channels must be joined if you have an interest in the topic, otherwise you won’t be notified of updates.

Alan reminds us that UPARC is on social media and board members can be emailed directly or as a group.

Fred (W2SUB) presents test material as prep for license test.
