UPARC in the Park May 2022

On May 21st, The Upper Pinellas Amateur Radio Club held one of its UPARC in the Park events. UPARC in the Park is a mini-field day where we setup 1-2 radios, antennas and have some outdoor radio fun for a few hours. All radios used battery power at this event.

The event had two operating positions. Dee W4DCH brought his Icom 7300 to use for phone contacts. A 20Ah battery was used for power.

Morris K7LSV was doing FT8 on his uBITX v6 QRP rig with a mag loop antenna and at one point he did it under Tesla power!

UPARC in the Park – Rescheduled

When: The event will begin at 0900. Setup starts at 0800.

Where: We will be in the large Pavilion located near the volley ball field and nature trail. See map below.

Details: Two stations will be setup consisting of an IC-7600 and an Elecraft K3. Two 40M EFHW antennas will be deployed on pushup poles in an inverted “L” or sloper configuration.  SSB and FT8 operation on 40 – 10M is planned. You are welcome to bring your own equipment. Shore power is available.

UPARC in the Park

We met Saturday morning, July 17th.

We were a bit rusty and didn’t have the turn out we hoped for, but all in all, we had a good time! The following were onsite to take part:

Three wire antennas were hoisted into the pines of John Chesnut Sr. Park (FKA Brooker Creek Park) adjacent to Shelter #11 by Alan W4UB, Dee W4DCH and Tim W4EKP. Here’s 2/3 of the antenna team doing nothing related to antennas!
